Spam Sucks
Spam emails really do suck. It's the 4th of July and we are celebrating Independence Day. The Spammers have stooped so low as to use related subjects to get unsuspecting recipients to open their spam. Here are some of the subject lines they are using:
- Celebrate Your Independence
- God Bless America
- Happy 4th of July
- Happy B-Day USA
- Happy Fourth of July
- Independence Day Party
- July 4th B-B-Q Party
- Your Nations Birthday
Now, most people never see these emails because of their spam blockers. My data is taken from a gateway, where emails are screened for viruses and spam, before the email is accepted by the server for delivery.
This particular company has 20 employees, yet the gateway must process 3 incoming emails every 2 seconds. That's 90 emails every minute, or 5400 emails AN HOUR, 129,600 emails A DAY! Since the gateway blocks most of these from delivery the users are unaware of their existence, mostly. Those emails cause congestion on their Internet connection, slowing down otherwise legitimate traffic.
Spam truly sucks.
