Stealing
It's that time of year again.
The time when voting referendums want to get into your pocket.
You know, those little proposals that want just a 'few cents a month' of your hard earned dollar to benefit some other group of people. Those groups that want to use the power of the government to require you and your neighbors to 'donate' thru your taxes, county, city or real estate, to their cause. Oh, I have no doubt their cause has lofty ideals and goals. But if their cause really is that great, why do they want me, thru voting, to force my neighbors to 'donate'? Wouldn't people just donate on their own?
Here are a few of the common phrases used to woo voters to the dark side:
"It's only pennies a day."
"If we don't do it who will?"
"It's for our schools."
"It's for the children."
It's just wrong to force someone else to part with their hard earned cash for the benefit of another. If you are thinking on voting Yes on such a proposal, stop a minute and consider, just because you aren't holding the gun, it's still stealing.
